We are a $60-70 million a year Electrical Design Build Subcontractor with approximately 350 employees and are looking for feedback concerning certain employee benefits other than health insurance and 401K.  Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Below is a detail of ours:

$.40/mile mileage reimbursment

$30/day perdiem on days worked for employee working more than 90 miles from our office; hotels/apartments are paid 100% by employer. Superintendents get their own room/apartment all utilities paid.  All other classes of field employees are 2 to a room.

Superintendents have a company vehicle and fuel card

Employees working out of town have the option to fly home once per month paid for by employer or drive home with standard mileage reimbursement

Superintendents have a company paid cell phone and laptop computer

1 week paid vacation (accrued the first year of employment).  2 weeks paid vacation after 5 years of service.

Just looking for some comparables concerning the benefit types described above.

Thanks.

We pay .55 per mile.   If an employee is asked to relocate to a job site we'll pay additional amounts for hauling and overnight stays for travel to that site.

- Our sups have company vehicles with a fuel card, or vehicle allowances (so pretty close to the same)

- They receive cell phone allowances and laptops (basically the same)

Non Exempt Vacation

a. First day through end of first year – 5 days.

b. Beginning of 2nd year through the end of 7th year – 10 days annually.

c. Beginning of 8th year – 15 days annually.

Exempt Level (Supervisors) Vacation

a. First day through end of 5th year – 10 days annually.

b. Beginning of 6th year – 15 days annually.

Per Diem varies based on cost of living in areas we are working in. However, supervisors receive a $100 more per diem per week then what the craft receives.

Ted Gust We pay $0.55/mile, and $50/day for per diem, and we try to not make anyone share rooms, it tends to bring down employee morale when we've done it in the past.

Your mileage rate and per diem rates are low.  We allow .48/per mile and $38 per day, both of which are below the IRS rates.  Your other travel policies are comparable.

We grant 2 weeks vacation for 0 to 5 years.

We provide similar equipment ie truck, gas card, phone and computers to our superintendents.

Diane Gerlach Your mileage rate is pretty low with today's gas prices.  We pay .55 which is the IRS limit for the year.  We also give two weeks vacation for years 1 through 5.
