Scott,

I live in VA, and attended a CCIFP Review course in Boston because one wasn't offered here in VA. I also noticed that in the places that offer the courses, and the exams, they often offer the review only two months before the exam. In my case, I used the review to highlight where I needed to concentrate my study, so having more than two months between the course and the exam was helpful. In the boston course, there were also people from Maine who did not have access to the course in their home chapter.

Good luck with the exam.

I'm a new member looking to attend a one-day CCIFP Training Class. Is it typical for members to attend classes in other states if the class does not work into their schedules at their home chapter?

Thanks.

Hey Brett:

I recently sat for and passed the CCIFP exam. I first purchased the study guide found here: http://www.cfma.org/store.cfm (or here http://www.cfma.org/resources) and then purchased THE BOOK linked at the same page.  The BOOK is the primary resourse used to make up the exam, and the study guide has an excellent listing of the appropriate sections to read, and breakdown of the exam by section.

I also attended a day long CCIFP Exam Review Course. If you know you will attend a review course,  you get a copy of the study quide on CD as part of the course materials. Most locations which host the exam, also host a review course anywhere from two to three months before the actual exam date. In my case, I went ahead and purchased the study guide before attending the review as I wanted more of a lead time in planning my studing.  Since you seem inclined toward online rather than in person reviews, you probably will do fine with just the guide and THE BOOK if you are self disciplined.

The hardest part for me was uncertainty about how much studing was enough. I set aside the better part of five weekends for preparation, and by the fifth felt fairly confident, so ended up doing very little review during that fifth weekend.

Good luck. Feel free to email me if I can help you further.

Malinda Webster I do not know where you are from, but the Tampa Bay chapter is planning on hosting a review course on May 15th in Tampa. The details are still being worked on but if you are close enough it may work for you.

James Rossini There is a one-day seminar that is offerred (not online).  You could probably ask your local CFMA chapter to look into hosting it.
