Tod CreechDoes anyone have an experience-based recommendation for a tablet pc for use by superintendents on the jobsite? The primary functions would be Outlook email and calander, viewing and editing Microsoft Office documents, and taking pictures.

Tod Creech On the F5v, did you get the optional Viewanywhere display, or is the standard display suitable for outdoor viewing?  Are they any other options that you would advise us to consider?

Brendon Ressler We've deployed about half a dozen Motion F5v ruggedized tablets in the field and they work very well. If you're looking for a less pricy alternative and you're not going to have to manipulate Excel spreadsheets and the like too often then the iPad2 in an OtterBox case works well also. We have about a dozen of those in use.

Tod,

Full disclosure I work for Austin Lane Technologies who makes ALMobile (All Mobile) mobile applications that collect time and more for tablets and other smartphone devices.  Since you are looking at giving your field a powerful tool, there are other areas such as automating the collection of time that can now also be done.  Whatever tablet you do decide to go with, we recommend to protect your investment with some kind of hard covering. Manurafacturers such as otterbox and others can help protect your investment.

If you would like more information on how you could further use your tablet, please do not hesitate to call.
