Several construction-specific ERP applications have "scale ticket" integration capability.  What users of those systems actually do with that functionality and data varies.  What the ERP applications are able to do with the data once it has been imported also varies - inventory updates, reorder, sales data, billing, job costing, etc.

Obviously, this is only one facet of an ERP selection. Other functional areas (PR, HR, AP, AR, GL, EQ, Job Cost, Project Management, Content Management, Service Management, etc.) as well as system architecture, vendor, history, pricing, etc. are all important considerations.

What software are you currently using or do you utilize multiple software applications (i.e. Command Alkon/APEX feeding into Accounting software program). I have worked at multiple companies, both large and small, and changing software programs can be rewarding but takes commitment by all parties involved and support from owners/executives. In a larger organization we used Command Alkon products on the operational end through ticketing/invoicing and interfaced with Oracle financials. This was a very expensive conversion and our IT budget grew exponentially. My suggestion would be to utilize a Command Alkon/APEX solution and if need be feed into a less complex accounting software package. Spending money on GPS truck tracking systems and other operational software will save money for the company in the long run and will provide additional returns to tweak accounting needs if the company continues to grow and/or if the economy bounces back.
