WELCOME
TO THE
Happy New Year! As we recover from the
holidays and return to work, we may be sobered by the shrinking size of
our backlogs, and bank accounts. Yesterday, I sat in the CFMA Webinar
with economist Anirban Basu as he spoke about his outlook for 2012.
Although statistical indications are that the US is recovering from the
“soft-dip” in 2010-11, Mr. Basu does not expect a quick recovery this
year. In fact, he mentioned in his own opinion, that full recovery will
not occur until 2014-15! And since Hawaii generally lags the mainland,
does that mean a 2016 recovery for us, or will Rail and tourism come
through and stir up economic activity sooner?
